Missed out on tickets in the ballot? Never fear - we're bringing SW19 to OLTC for the men's final!

Join us for a chilled afternoon in the clubhouse - watch the tennis on the big screen and enjoy picnic food, strawberries & cream and a glass of Pimm's. Hopefully the sun will shine so the courts can be in action too!

This event is open to all members and friends of the club. We hope to see you there! 🎾

Tennis Tip Friday🎾

We continue our fortnightly series PLAY WINNING TENNIS, written by Peter Farrell. Peter is a Level 4 coach who works extensively in the Tennis Ireland Coach Education Programme. The series will build into a library of tips that can help make your match play more effective. Today, what to prioritise against the volleyer.

What should be your priority on the passing shot when your opponent is at the net?

Often players say, “hit it hard and away from the volleyer”.
I think the most important thing is to keep the ball LOW. If they’re volleying from below the height of the net, they won’t be able to hit it with pace. They can attempt a drop volley or a deep volley, but not a powerful winner.
If you can hit the passing shot low, with pace, and away from the volleyer, that’s great. But if, on a given shot, you can only do one of those things, keeping it low should be the priority.
